How much hay does a rabbit need? Plan a day's food by weight
Rabbits are hay eaters first: welfare groups describe a diet of about 85% hay, 10% leafy greens and just 5% pellets. Put in your rabbit's weight and get a day's plan, with hay unlimited, a handful of greens and a weighed spoon of pellets.
We also explain why the RSPCA and the Rabbit Welfare Association give slightly different pellet amounts, and when to call a vet. Young, pregnant or unwell rabbits need a vet's plan instead.
